Brenda has taught private piano lessons for over 20 years. Her interest in music and movement / proper body piano technique allows her to create one of a kind lesson experiences that are about the student first. Brenda is dedicated toward supporting students in their personal expression.

 

She received her Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance and music education from the University of NE and went on to study eurythmics and music therapy, as well as study with renown piano instructors Dr. Helen Walker-Hill, Dr. Brenda Ishikawa, Dr. Patricia Holmberg, piano performer Larry Ryan, and beginning jazz piano with composer and performer Darren Kramer of DKO, music & movement with Eve Maison-Pierre and Dr. Alexandra Pierce - piano teacher and author of Generous Movement, and Madeline Bruser, teacher and author of The Art of Practicing: Making Music from the Heart.

She has collaborated with Cody Qualls of the vocal group The New Ancients, violinist Gregory T. S. Walker, and briefly mentored under Kevin Asbjornson - Colorado composer and music entrepreneur of workshop on how music can improve business communications. She currently plays piano/violin duets with violinist Laura Sommerschield and has been a guest teacher for master classes.

 

Brenda was head teacher for the Yamaha Clavinova Connection Adult Keyboard Class at Wells Music in Denver, and head choir sectional leader for Boulder Women’s Choir .

Brenda grew up in a musical family and was influenced by classical music, folk and pop guitar and vocal music.  She began composing music in her teens. More recently she won Honorary Mention from the National Flute Association’s composition competition for her piano and flute piece The Wind’s Answer.
